In Kazan, ground-based drones are used to clean yards. Property management companies are currently testing two drones – the first rakes snow, and the second, moving after it, throws it aside and levels the road. Cleaning an area of 100 by 50 meters takes only 5 minutes. Preliminary calculations suggest that a pair of such robots can replace the labor of 20-30 janitors. The Mayor of Ilsur Metshin presented the new equipment designed to solve the problem of shortage of personnel in the housing and utilities services sector to journalists during a press tour at 35 Nursultana Nazarbayeva Street.
Ground drones are manufactured for the needs of a special military operation at one of the local enterprises. The idea to adapt and use drones for snow removal belongs to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. It coincided with the desire of the company to adapt military products for civilian purposes.
«Today, together with the manufacturer, we are introducing ground-based drones. This device has already been successfully used in the special military operation zone, bringing victory closer: it saves lives, delivers ammunition and evacuates the wounded. When I was at the factory, I invited the guys to think about how their experience could help in a civil life. They responded quickly and adapted the equipment for the urban economy. Now these vehicles will work in our yards, helping to cope with the consequences of heavy snowfalls», – said Ilsur Metshin.
The deplorable situation in the labor market demanded finding new solutions. To date, Kazan lacks almost 900 janitors. With an annual commissioning of 1.3 million square meters of housing, burden on utilities is growing, while the staff is employed only by 60%: out of the required 2,221 employees, only 1,330 people work in large management companies.
The Mayor noted that with a current salary of 35,000 rubles, the janitor's profession remains unattractive. The digitalization of the industry is designed to change this trend, turning hard physical labor into high-tech equipment management.
