The opening of the city stage of the All-Russian Golden Puck tournament took place today at the outdoor ice rink of the Ak Bars Arena. The outdoor sports festival was marked by a gala match with participation of young hickey players, as well as players and veterans of HC Ak Bars. The Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin welcomed the participants of the tournament.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, five-time Gagarin Cup winner Danis Zaripov, Ak Bars head coach Anvar Gatiyatulin and the club's general manager Marat Valiullin attended the opening ceremony. The players of the Kazan hockey club Artur Brovkin and Dmitry Katelevsky also took part in the event.
«The Golden Puck tournament marks its 60 anniversary. Today, our renowned coaches and champions, who started their career on the ice rinks in their yards, came to the event. We are all united by our love for this great game, for hockey. In the republic of Tatarstan, thanks to the support of the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, systematic work is being carried out to develop sports, in particular hockey. There are seven hockey sports schools, 15 ice arenas and more than 80 yard hockey rinks in the city», – Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said in his speech.
This year, more than 2,500 children took part in the first stage of the competition. As many as 1,800 young athletes from seven districts of Kazan competed for victory in the first rounds.
Twenty-four teams out of 73 reached the city finals. The competitions take place in three age groups (born 2011-2016) and are divided into two divisions.
Today, a real celebration of yard hockey unfolded in the arena: uniforms in different colors, flags of schools and clubs, parents with posters and a great support from the stands. The teams of the junior, middle and senior groups went to the ice – Berket, Moskovsky, Vector, Titan, Atlant, Desyatochka, Nord, Vityaz and others.
