A renovation work is being completed in the new center of “The Good Kazan” in Salavat Kupere residential area. The fifth center for children with disabilities and their parents will open in September. For the first time, doctors will work there on a permanent basis. The project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of renovation.
«Inclusive centers by «The Good Kazan» are being opened throughout the city. It is important for us that children and adults with disabilities have the opportunity to visit such centers within walking distance. One of the largest inclusive centers is being built in Salavat Kupere. The multi-purpose center will contain all the accumulated experience of our specialists from “The Good Kazan”. As experience show, the centers should have medical specialists, so there will be medical staff on a permanent basis to facilitate parents' care of children with disabilities», – said Ilsur Metshin.
The new center will provide comprehensive support to children with intellectual disabilities, as well as other developmental disabilities.
The center, with a total area of 400 square meters, will consist of eight offices and common areas. The center is decorated in pastel colors. According to Tatyana Merzlyakova, Director of “The Good Kazan”, the center is designed to create an accessible environment.
One of the features of the new center will be the integration of medical rehabilitation into the educational process. Doctors will work closely with teachers and psychologists, which will allow them to create individual training programs for each child.
The center will also feature the first hippo therapy simulator in the network. This simulator is designed for the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.
It will become the most equipped training apartment among all the Good Kazan centers. It will be fully equipped with household appliances and furniture necessary for everyday life: washing and dishwasher machines, a dryer, an induction cooker and other devices. All this is necessary for teaching children with special needs everyday skills.
In addition, two resource classes will be opened here for children who cannot study at a regular school. Each class will be able to study up to six children with a tutor and a correctional teacher. The center will have a sensory room with light and sound effects for anxiety treatment.
