Today, the Mayor
of Kazan Ilsur Metshin has met with participants of the staff development
program “Change Management in a City”, organized by the Higher School of Public
Administration of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and
Public Administration. The participants came to the capital of Tatarstan to
study the best municipal practices and the experience of Kazan as a host city
of the major international events and a city for a comfortable life.
The professional
development program, which is conducted jointly with the Kazan Mayor’s Office,
started the day before. The participants of the program are 20 managers, many
of whom were participants and winners of the Leaders of Russia contest. They
came to the capital of Tatarstan from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Surgut,
Akhtubinsk, Chelyabinsk and many other cities.
During the
session, Ilsur Metshin shared the information on the transformation of Kazan. According
to him, residents saw the first improvements in the city during the celebration
of the 1000th anniversary of Kazan. “Many people was sure that it would not be
possible to hold a larger event in the city, but we dispelled these prejudices
and hosted the 2013 Universiade, the FINA World Championships, the FIFA World
Cup and the 45th WorldSkills Championships in Kazan,”- the Mayor of Kazan said.
He noted that all these events have played a great role in the development of
the city, and Kazan residents still use the legacy of the events. “The
transformation of the city cannot be implemented without a global objective
that unites the authorities and residents, – Ilsur Metshin stressed. - Our
global objective is making the city a magnet and creation all conditions for
comfortable living.”
The professional
development program will last until June 25. The program will also include a
practical part. In three days, participants should think over proposals on how
to increase the return of tourists in Kazan and how to improve the relationship
between the authorities and the population. They will voice their ideas at the
final session.
