Ilsur Metshin inspects the new range extended models of trams and trolleybuses

Today, two new models of trolleybuses and trams will start running in Kazan. Based on the results of the test drive, a decision will be made on purchasing the equipment. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the low‑floor tram “71‑711” manufactured in Chelyabinsk and the Naberezhnye Chelny trolleybus “KAMAZ‑62825”.

The tram is assembled from domestic components.

“Public transport in Kazan carries 750,000 passengers per day, of whom 140,000 use trams and trolleybuses. We pay great attention to updating these vehicles. The new tram is equipped with everything necessary: air conditioning, convenient conditions for disabled people, and good capacity. We will definitely study the feedback and see how the equipment performs in real operating conditions,”- Ilsur Metshin noted.

The new yellow tram of the “71-711” model is manufactured at the “Lekat” enterprise in Chelyabinsk. Kazan will be the first city where it will undergo pilot operation. The vehicle has a capacity of 120 people and 32 seats. The cabin is equipped with an air conditioning system, USB ports, video surveillance, and multimedia screens for passenger information, said Aidar Abdulkhakov, director of the MUP “Metroelektrotrans”.

Low‑floor vehicle is convenient for elderly people and parents with strollers. The middle door is equipped with a ramp, and both inside and outside, there are call buttons for disabled passengers.

The windows have been increased by a third, which provides better visibility for passengers and drivers. The car is equipped with four asynchronous traction motors of Russian manufacture. The control system allows saving up to 30% of electricity.

Ilsur Metshin was presented with the KAMAZ 62825 trolleybus, manufactured in Naberezhnye Chelny.

The vehicle is designed to carry 86 passengers and has 34 seating positions. The trolleybus is low‑floor and, for the convenience of people with limited mobility, is equipped with a ramp and a body tilt system. The cabin features air conditioning, an auto‑information system, video surveillance, and five USB charging ports.

The main advantage of the KAMAZ 62825 model is its ability to run up to 10 km without being connected to the overhead power supply.
