The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visits the renovated school № 170 and congratulates students on the Day of Knowledge

On the Day of Knowledge, Ilsur Metshin visited the multidisciplinary school № 170. The Mayor congratulated students, teachers and parents on the new school year, inspected the renovated sports grounds, the school canteen, and met with school students. 

“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to congratulate you on the Day of Knowledge. Today is a special and beautiful day. This year, 16,000 first-graders and 183,000 students entered schools. We have 206 educational institutions, we open new schools every year, and this year is no exception: one of the largest schools for 1,500 students is being built at the Sportivnaya Station. Last year, we opened school № 123,”- Ilsur Metshin noted. 

Currently, there are 1,543 students and 77 teachers at school № 170, built in 2001. 

In 2023, the renovation of the school completed: the roof, engineering systems, heating, electrics, windows, doors, sports and assembly halls, and the lobby were repaired. The food hall was also renovated. The renovation of six bathrooms was carried out, 18 new lighting poles were installed, and the yard of the school was landscaped. 

This year, a sports ground was equipped at the school. There is a hockey box, rubber-coated basketball and volleyball grounds, as well as a workout area. A kickboxing center will open here. 

The Mayor also visited the school canteen and got acquainted with new menu that will be implemented in all schools in the city. After that, the Mayor met with 10th grade students in the assembly hall. Addressing the high school students, Ilsur Metshin noted the importance of choosing a future professional path. “There is an expression: in order not to work a single day, you need to choose a profession that suits your heart and soul, and then your job will make you happy,”- the Mayor noted.
