Today, the
honoring of the Ak Bure hockey team – silver medalists of the All-Russian
Golden Puck tournament took place at the Kazan City Hall. The Mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin awarded the young hockey players with letters of thanks.
“It is a special
day for all of us. Thanks to your hard work, as well as the support of your
parents and coaches, you will always remember this day. For us, you are the
winners! For the first time, young hockey players from Kazan have won such high
awards. I wish you victories and the highest achievements in future”, - I.Metshin
addressed the participants of the ceremony.
The Mayor of
Kazan thanked the coaching staff, parents, and the management of the sports
school, as well as hockey players. “This sporting triumph is very important for
the popularization of hockey and a healthy lifestyle. In recent years, about
ten ice rinks have been built in Kazan. Thanks to this, the city has all necessary
conditions to practice hockey”, - he said.
The award
ceremony took place in several stages: the young players received letters of
thanks from the Mayor. In addition, honorary diplomas of the city were awarded
to director of the FSO “Ak Bure” Pavel Nikulin, deputy sports director of the
FSO “Ak Bure” Gulnara Magdieva and coach of the team Rafael Akhmetov.
The Ak Bure
hockey team was established in 2017. Young athletes took part in many competitions
and became multiple prizewinners and winners of the championships of Kazan and
the republic of Tatarstan.
For reference,
in the city stage of the Golden Puck tournament with over 2 thousand participants,
the team took first place and entered the republican stage. In the final of the
republican competitions, Kazan hockey players won again, and qualified to the
next stage of the tournament, where they fought with eight teams. As a result,
after six matches without a single defeat, the Ak Bure team took first place
and made it to the final part of the competition.
The final stage
of the “Golden Puck” tournament among the boys born in 2007-2008 took place in
Perm in May. Kazan hockey players met with the strongest teams from the
Vladimir, Volgograd and Amur regions. In a difficult struggle, the team took
second place and became a silver medalist. “This result was achieved after hard
training throughout the season under the guidance of coach Rafael Akhmetov and
with the support of the Kazan Mayor’s Office, as well as Tatarstan Ministry of
Sports”, - said Pavel Nikulin, Director of the Ak Bure.
The Golden Puck
is an All-Russian hockey tournament among youth teams, which was established in
1964.
