The overhaul at school No. 143 in the Novo-Savinovsky district of Kazan

Overhaul has begun at magnet school No. 143 in the Novo-Savinovsky district of Kazan. By September 1, utilities and doors will be replaced in the institution, the front, pavement and bathrooms will be overhauled, classrooms will be updated. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of work in the educational institution. He noted that the work is being carried out according to the approved schedule and instructed to discuss the design of the front of the building together with teachers, students and their parents.

I.Metshin noted that school No. 143 on Chetaeva St. with an area of over 9 thousand sq.m required renovation. Since it construction, the building has never been fully renovated. “The building was built in 1991, but the quality of construction was poor. For 30 years, the school has become very dilapidated, so we decided to renovate it. Work on maintenance at the school began last year, and this summer we will carry out the overhaul of the building. By September 1, we will have to replace the engineering networks, the entrance group, and update the front and walls of the building. All the work is going according to schedule, the children will begin the new school year in the renovated school”, - I.Metshin said.

According to Aidar Valiullin, Director General of the contracting organization STK LLC, utilities – water supply, sewerage, ventilation, heating, electricity and low-current systems - will be replaced at the school in the summer. The workers will have to update and insulate the front of the school, as well as the pavement. Preliminary design was presented to the Mayor of Kazan, after which he instructed to finalize it together with the school staff. “Children, parents and the teaching staff should decide. They will come to school every day. Therefore, taking into account their opinions, we will make decisions about the design of the front”, - I.Metshin emphasized.

In addition, workers will replace doors and entrance groups, renovate toilets, and redecorate walls and ceilings in all school premises. “Many classrooms were damaged by a leaking roof”, - A.Valiullin said.

Now about 200 building constructors work at the facility every day. Currently, dismantling and plastering works, replacement of utilities are being carried out.

For reference, the major maintenance at the school was carried out last year: the roof was renovated and insulated in the building, windows were installed, the alarm button and turnstiles for controlling access to the school were replaced, two gyms and a canteen were overhauled. In addition, from 2016 to 2020, bathrooms and stairwells were updated at the school, and a basketball and volleyball court was equipped in the yard.

In total, five educational institutions have been overhauled in Kazan for 5 years – schools No. 30 and No. 113 of the Novo-Savinovsky district, boarding school No. 2 of the Moskovsky district, gymnasium No. 175 of the Sovetsky district and boarding school No. 4 of the Kirovsky district.

The overhaul is also planned in other educational institutions of the city this year, I. Metshin noted. “Seven schools, eleven kindergartens and catering facilities at 28 schools will be updated by the new school year for our children”, - the Mayor of Kazan noted.
