Today, the unemployment rate in Tatarstan's capital has reached a low of
0.17%. As of today, 1,116 people have registered as unemployed at the
Employment Centers in Kazan, while there are more than 7,000 job offers
available in the city. This means that there are more than six job offers for
each unemployed person. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Kazan
Executive Committee Ildar Shakirov.
“1,100 unemployed people and 7,000 available jobs are two sides of a
coin. Fortunately, the city has increased wages and started actively recruiting
young people,”- said the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
In the republic, the minimum wage is 23,200 rubles, while in Russia it
is 22,440 rubles. Last year, there were 774 employers who were at risk of
paying wages below these minimums. These employers were reviewed by the
Commission for Improving the Standard of Living of the Population, Labor and
Income Legalization.
To date, 15 organizations owe wages to 970 employees in Kazan. Of these,
40% are active enterprises, and 60% are inactive or bankrupt enterprises. A
total of 68.3 million rubles has been repaid so far this year.
