The Kazan Development Institute presented its vision for the improvement of various locations of the city to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. About 10 projects were considered, such as beautification of the shorelines of Lake Verkhny Kaban, and landscaping of some sections of streets. All the presented concepts require further elaboration, however, they set the general vector for the development of the urban environment.
«We established the Kazan Development Institute not only to solve applied problems, but also to ensure that a young, creative team offers new concepts aimed based on the best international experience. We see new trees on a previously «bald» street, a good road surface and a couple of benches can completely change the atmosphere. Citizens are very sensitive to such changes and expect them from us, as well large-scale projects that make the urban environment comfortable, modern and friendly to residents. All this work starts with such concepts. You show us what can be improved, while we find opportunities to implement these ideas. It is good that you don’t stuck in a routine and offer new ideas», – Ilsur Metshin addressed the institute staff at the meeting.
Nikita Budkevich, Head of the Department of Transport Planning and Modeling, and Ulyana Alekseeva, lead architect of the Department of Public Space Development, offered their vision for the development of Profsouznaya Street. The concept includes a comprehensive street transformation.
Svetlana Gafurova, Head of the Urban Planning Concepts Department, presented the concept of landscaping of Lake Verkhny Kaban.
