The upcoming
reconstruction of the Gorkovsky Highway and Osinovskaya Street was discussed
today during a visiting meeting held by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Three underground and two road
interchanges, 8 pedestrian crossings, a bike path and a tunnel
The
reconstruction project of the Gorkovsky Highway with a length of almost 13 km provides
for the expansion of the highway to six lanes. Continuous traffic without
traffic lights is provided from Krasnokokshayskaya Street to the M7 highway.
This was reported at the meeting by the deputy head of the Executive Committee
of the city Igor Kulyazhev.
On Zalesnaya
Street, the project provides for the construction of three new pedestrian underpasses
and five overpasses. According to the project, it is planned to build three underground
U-turn rings.
A bicycle path
will run along the entire Gorkovsky Highway. A tunnel for pedestrians and
cyclists will be built in the area of the railway crossing, I.Kulyazhev added.
Preparatory work
is currently underway in the area of the transport ring at the intersection of
Vosstaniya and Frunze Streets. The deputy head of the Executive Committee of
the city said that a three-level interchange will be built here, comprising an
underground tunnel, an overpass and an overground carriageway.
In order to reduce
the impact of road works on the reconstruction of the Gorkovsky Highway on
traffic, detours will be opened. The Mayor of Kazan discussed the details of
the project with the deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan.
Igor Kulyazhev informed
that the conclusion of the state expert conclusion report will be received in
July. This year, it is planned to complete the construction of a turning loop
in the village of Zalesny and all replace utilities in the construction area.
“Huge volumes of
road works are planned in Kazan this year. One of our most important sites is
the reconstruction of the Gorkovsky Highway. The highway will be without traffic
lights traffic, while the number of tunnels and crossings will significantly
improve the traffic situation and transport accessibility in the western
direction”, - Ilsur Metshin reported.
The expansion of the road on
Osinovskaya Street is planned to be completed by the end of autumn
At the same time,
works on the expansion of Osinovskaya Street are underway in Kazan. The 1.4 km
long road section will be expanded to four lanes, sidewalks will be equipped on
both sides, a bike path will be laid, four traffic light posts will be
installed.
Stanislav Shevuryov,
Director of the general contracting organization Volga-Avtodor LLC, reported to
I.Metshin that preparatory work is being carried out now.
Work on the
expansion of the road on Osinovskaya Street is planned to be completed by the
end of autumn.
“After the work
on Osinovskaya Street is completed and the Gorkovsky Highway is expanded, the
traffic congestion in this direction will significantly decrease”, - I.Metshin
stressed.
The expansion of
the Gorkovsky highway and the reconstruction of Osinovskaya Street will allow
to increase the average speed by 28% – such data is provided by the Department
of transport planning of the Institute of City Development, which has developed
a computer transport model of traffic in this direction.
“For us, the
modernization of the road infrastructure not only allows us to solve the
transport issue, but also serves as a good anti-crisis measure”, - the Mayor
summed up.
