On Friday,
Library No.13 will open after the renovation in the Privolzhsky district of
Kazan on Mavlyutova Street. It will be the second library in the city, which is
upgraded to a new standard: besides books storage, there are areas for creative
meetings, a hall for training sessions, an exhibition hall dedicated to the
creative heritage of the poet and playwright Gulshat Zainasheva, as well as temporary
expositions. In addition, it is the first municipal library in the city with a
concert hall and a book return station.
Before the
opening, the readiness of the Sandugach library was inspected by the Mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin.
From reading rooms and
coworking to concert space
The library on
Mavlyutova Street, built in 1989, is very popular in the city – before the
renovation, its book collection was used by about 5 thousand readers annually.
“Today libraries
should become creative spaces where visitors could communicate with the authors
of works and attend different thematic meetings. A couple of years ago, when we
opened a library on Klara Tsetkin St., Kazan residents supported this approach
to the construction and reconstruction of libraries”, - the Mayor said. “It is
great that despite gadgets and computers, the number of readers is increasing
every day. Now not only the older generation is returning to libraries, but
also young people. Last year, the number of readers increased by 200 thousand
in Kazan. This shows that we are working in the right direction”, - I.Metshin believes.
During the renovation
of the library on Mavlyutova St., workers restored the front and the roof,
windows and utilities were replaced, installed doors, a security and fire alarm
system and a video surveillance system.
The library is
divided into several zones. In the reading rooms, on open shelves, visitors
will be able to find books, coworking is also organized here. Major events and
meetings are planned to be held in the main hall of the library, while presentations,
master classes and training sessions will be held in the lecture hall. In
addition, for the first time, a small concert hall has been created in the
municipal library.
The Mayor of
Kazan inspected the renovated library premises and the exhibition hall, where
he got acquainted with the exposition dedicated to Gulshat Zainasheva, a poet,
playwright, publicist, Honored Artist of Tatarstan, laureate of the State Prize
of the republic of Tatarstan named after G.Tuqai.
For reference,
the name of the library refers to the famous song of Gulshat Zainasheva “Kitma,
sandugach” and unique visual identity will contribute to the recognition of the
facility.
The head of the
city was also shown the work of the book return station – readers can
independently return a book by putting it in the book receiver.
In addition, a
book recognition system has been launched in Library No.13, which includes an
independent book delivery station, book labeling, a fire protection system, as
well as general administration software that combines information from all RFID
devices, with the ability to obtain statistics on book transfers and returns.
The renovated library and
landscaped yards will become a single space
The head of the
administration of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts, Marat Zakirov, presented
the Mayor the project of landscaping the adjacent territory, as well as the
recreation area opposite the library.
Following the
renovation of the library, it was decided to improve the yards of 18
neighboring houses. The work is carried out under the Our Yard republican
program.
Next year, 9
more yards are planned to be landscaped in the residential area. “After the renovation
of these adjacent territories, the area will be completely renovated”, - Marat
Zakirov noted.
“We have not
only reconstructed the building, increased the library fund, but by the end of
the year we will complete the landscaping of nearby yards. It will be a single
space”, - the Mayor said.
