Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, took part in the meeting
of the Chamber of cities – centers of the territorial entities of the Russian
Federation of the All-Russian Congress of municipalities via videoconference. The
current state and development prospects of urban agglomerations in Russia were
discussed at the event which was held today in Moscow.
Ilsur Metshin made a report on the development of the
road network and public transport in the city.
The head of the
capital of Tatarstan noted that due to the implementation of the national
project “Safe and high-quality roads” since 2017, the volume of road works has
increased.
In recent years,
for Kazan, as for all major cities, the issue of traffic congestions caused by
mass motorization has become crucial.
According to I.Metshin,
a set of measures is being implemented to increase the capacity of streets and
traffic speed.
“We see tomorrow in the development of high-speed
transport – such as speed trams and metrobuses, which will lead to a
significant optimization of the route network, increase the speed of travel of
passengers, increase road safety, reduce the number of urban transports, which
will eventually improve the environmental situation in the city”, - the Mayor shared
the plans.
