16 kindergartens will be overhauled in Kazan in 2019

(KZN.RU, February 26, Ksenia Shvetsova). Since 2012, 137 schools older than 1981 have been repaired in Kazan, and 34 kindergartens since the start of the kindergarten overhaul program. This year, the overhaul will take place in 16 kindergartens over 30 years old. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, told about the plans at the meeting of the XXXII session of the Kazan City Duma in the City Hall.

Almost 5 billion rubles were allocated from the state budget for the repair of educational institutions in the capital of Tatarstan.

In total, 186 kindergartens older than 1983 were in need of repair in Kazan. “Thank you very much for including additional types of work in the overhaul program: building fire exits, updating food-processing units, repairing internal driveways and fences”, the Mayor of Kazan thanked Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT.

The repair program has been prepared for 16 preschool institutions and one school for 2019. Taking into account the next 5 years (until 2024), the overhaul will be necessary for 23 schools, 201 kindergartens, which will be 30 years old by that time.

The construction of new educational institutions continues along with the overhaul in the city. Thus, 3 schools were commissioned last year, and today 2 more are under construction, said I. Metshin. He added that 3 new kindergartens were also built in Kazan in 2018.

“Despite the good pace of construction of educational facilities, this is still not enough. The number of first-graders over 10 years has increased almost 2 times. We expect almost 19 thousand first-graders in 2019”, noted the Mayor. He added that today almost 40% of schools work in two shifts, more than 18 thousand children study in this mode.

In addition, almost 53 thousand children stand in a queue at kindergartens, most of them are children from 1 to 3 years. Thanks to the initiative and support of the President of the RT, the construction of 11 kindergartens has begun and the construction of another 20 ones is planned.

“We have a large program for the construction of kindergartens in the republic. The federal part in these funds is less than 30%. We direct large funds from the budget of the republic. In the near future, we will solve these problems and build a large number of facilities by 2021”, said Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT.
