(KZN.RU, February 26, Ksenia Shvetsova). Over the past 2 years, more than 12.3 billion rubles have been allocated for road works in the capital of Tatarstan, including 6 billion rubles last year. At present, 81% of roads in the city are in a good condition, whereas before the Universiade, this figure was 2 times less. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted this at the XXXII session of the Kazan City Duma.
The head of the city said that 5-6 years ago, the quality of Kazan roads caused complaints and traffic jams were a serious problem. But today, 81% of roads are in a good condition. According to sociological surveys of the Government of Russia, Kazan took second place in the rating in terms of roads. “Such results were achieved thanks to the support of Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT”, said the Mayor.
“The constructed and repaired roads should be cleaned in a timely and high-quality manner, maintained in a standard condition. Kazan citizens demand this from us in their appeals”, noted I. Metshin. He added that the cleaned area of the city’s roads by the end of the year was 21 million square meters.
Last year, the work on updating the park of cleaning equipment was continued to keep the quality of road maintenance. In total, 26 units of special equipment were purchased.
Last year, the city repaired 122 city streets and 60 settlements streets, 3 access roads to 14 gardeners' partnerships. The total repair area was more than 2.5 million square meters.
