(Kazan City
KZN.RU, September 9, Zilya Gayfi). In the campus of Kazan State Power
Engineering University at st. Yarullin of the Moskovsky district of the city a
new 19-storey hostel for 560 places opened. Mayor Ilsur Metshin congratulated nonresident
students with housewarming today. With the head of the city head of administration
of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts Damir Fattakhov and chairman of the
Committee on Children and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee Sergey
Mironov visited the hostel.
Ilsur
Metshin visited the Student Council of the hostel, where activists take
important decisions for the life of the university. The Mayor asked the
students, from what cities they came from. As it turned out, KSPEU is popular
among graduates of Tatarstan and neighboring regions - Bashkortostan, Samarskaya
area, Mari El, but there are also students from the distant Sakhalin.
"15-20% of non-resident students come from Bashkiria, it's quite a lot.
Interestingly, that almost all of them continue to live in our city,"-
said the rector of KSPEU Edward Abdullazyanov. According Ilsur Metshin, it is
not surprising, because Kazan has always been famous for its education far
beyond the republic. "Our policy lies in the fact that we attract young
people to receive education in our republic. We set ourselves the task of
making Kazan a magnet for students from all over the Urals and the Volga region
"- said the Mayor.
New
building on st. Yarullin, construction of which began in September 2013, is the
third hostel of Kazan State Power Engineering University - the other two are
located in walking distance – at st. 2nd Yugozapadnaya. Opening of a
new hostel is a welcome event for the university. 9597 students study at KSPEU,
6959 of them are non-residents and 264 are foreign. In total 1410 people live in
three hostels.
Thanks to
international cooperation 264 foreign undergraduate and graduate students from
27 CIS and foreign countries: Bangladesh, Burundi, Vietnam, Egypt, Zambia,
Yemen, Iraq, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Palestine, Syria, the Democratic Republic
of Congo, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
also study at KSPEU.
For
non-residents and foreign students the new hostel at st. Yarullin provides a
comfortable environment for living, learning and recreation. 19-storey building
resembling a skyscraper is markedly different from the others, especially by the
fact that it is apartment type. 110 one-, two- and three-bedroom residential
units with total area of 7651, 41 sq.m. are located in the hostel. Each has a
balcony, bathroom, kitchen room with appliances, bedroom furniture, and
spacious hallway. Also the building has two elevators. Ilsur Metshin drew
attention to the quality of housing, noting that the units are equipped for
students with maximum comfort.
Finally,
the Mayor congratulated the students with settling into a new hostel and wished
them success in their studies.
