(Kazan, KZN.RU, June 1, by Adel Galiyev). Today – on International Day for Protection of Children – the staff of Kazan housing and communal services, dressed in costumes of fairytale characters and superheroes, along with children, cleaned and tidied the city. The event was attended by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Today, the fairy tale and comic book characters showed what kind of work communal services employees did. In the Victory Park, the kids, along with Shrek, were making birdhouses, and “Tom Sawyer” painted a fence in the Millennium Park. In the "Istanbul" park, Puss in Boots showed how to plant flowers, and the children fished out plastic bottles with nets from the fountain under the leadership of “Superman”. Ilsur Metshin visited the park and talked with children, who enthusiastically competed in catching the bottles. As it turned out, the children fully appreciated the idea and were delighted to cooperate with superheroes.
"I think it is a good idea to show everyday heroes to our children; they meet them in the morning and evening, but pass them by. Our municipal workers get up as early as 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning and perform all these feats every day before the city wakes up," the mayor said in praise of their work. "Through play, children begin to understand and appreciate the work of the people who keep our city clean. It is important to cultivate respect for work through games," said the mayor of Kazan.
He also visited the ground near the "Kazan" family center. Here “Iron Man” introduced children to carpentry, and “Harry Potter” shared his skills in broom making. According to Ilsur Metshin, this event was as much of a pleasant surprise for him as it was for the children. "The results exceeded all our expectations: today we see our enthusiastic children planting flowers in courtyards, squares and parks, cleaning and helping adults. They promise to maintain this cleanliness in their courtyards. This is the way to keep our city spick and span," said the mayor.
At the end of the day, Ilsur Metshin again wished everybody a happy International Children's Day and thanked the organizers of the wonderful project. "Together, we are moving along the road to a truly clean city," said the mayor.
