(KZN.RU, February 26, by Taisiya Basharkina) In March, a new food production facility on Tulskaya Street, built to cater for the Universiade, will start training chefs and preparing test meals. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin could see for himself that the facility, capable of preparing 50,000 meals per day, is ready.
In total, some 1,300 cooks will be busy preparing meals for the Universiade participants. Most of them – 800 – will work directly in the Universiade Village. To make sure that there are no failures or emergencies during the Universiade, extra test meals will be prepared.
"Since the guests will come to Kazan from around the world, it is important that the Europeans get the kind of food they are accustomed to, and the Asians – theirs. The most popular dishes with the Europeans will certainly be schnitzel, salads, pasta and pizza while the Asians will opt for seafood," said the head chef of the LLC "Food Service Universiade" Igor Feldman. As for the athletes, their diet, in keeping with the FISU requirements, should include the necessary vitamins and minerals.
After the World Student Games, the food preparation facility will cater for the city provide meals to the educational and health institutions. "After the Universiade, champion meals will be fed to our students," said Ilsur Metshin.
