Since the beginning of the winter season, over 1 million tons of snow have already been removed from the streets of Kazan, of which 903,600 tons in January and two weeks of February. The thickness of the snow cover during the winter months has reached more than 80 cm, which is comparable to the indicators of cities in the Siberian region. Albert Shainurov, Chairman of the Land Improvement Committee, announced such data at the staff meeting.
«Almost 150% of the precipitation rate since the beginning of winter, 176.5 mm of snow. The snow removal has exceeded the mark of 1 million tons: we have already removed 1 million 20 tons. I would like to note the well-coordinated work of the road services and the work carried out by our heads of district administrations, municipal unitary enterprises, and the Land Improvement Committee headed by Igor Kulyazhev. The quality of cleaning is significantly higher than in 2024, despite the fact that there is a shortage of janitors», – said Ilsur Metshin.
He noted that there are still a lot of requests for snow removal, while the yards remain the most challenging areas for snow cleaning.
The Mayor also commented on the recent experiment of snow removal using a ground drone. “I should mention the new technologies that were tested last week. We visited one of the enterprises, they are developing ground-based drones that serve our soldiers on the front line and help bring victory closer. My colleagues from the media and I came to the yard where the snow had been lying for quite a long time, since it was a new building, dense, packed snow, but, nevertheless, the drone cut it off like butter. Of course, there are issues of the further technological improvement the project and making it cheaper, but it is great that our skilled craftsmen continue to hold the brand of the engineering, technical and scientific school of machine–building aviation of Kazan on the high level”- the Mayor said.
