The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the dormitory of the Kazan Pedagogical College on Latyshskikh Strelkov Street after the renovation. The building, built in 1974, was completely renovated: the utilities were replaced and complete redevelopment of residential premises was made.
“We pay systematic attention to education. In addition to the educational process, it is extremely important to develop decent conditions for future specialists. We tried to create the most comfortable environment for students and teachers, and we are happy to succeed in it. Teacher support at the learning stage is very important as well. We need to take care of those who choose this noble and difficult profession,” said Ilsur Metshin and added that today Kazan education is known as one of the best in the country. “Every fifth school student graduates from school with a medal, and Kazan ranks second in Russia after Moscow in terms of the number of winners of science Olympiads per 100,000 residents,” the Mayor added.
The dormitory is located on Latyshskikh Strelkov Street, 23 in the Sovetsky city district and covers an area of 3,554 square meters. It was built in 1974 for students from two colleges – Kazan Pedagogical College and Kazan Medical College.
The renovation began in April 2025 and was completed in record time – in August. The contractor was RSK LLC. This is the first renovation in the building in 50 years. The roof was renovated at the expense of the republican budget. The facade of the building was completely insulated to solve the long-standing problem of air-leaks. A complete replacement of water supply, sewerage, heating, ventilation and electricity supply systems was carried out in the building.
