Kazan has revised up its plans to increase a tourist flow, and expects to welcome 7 million tourists in 2030, the Mayor Ilsur Metshin said at the session of the Kazan City Duma.
«In 2025, 5.1 million people visited Kazan, a milestone that we previously planned in our Development Strategy only by 2030. Today we are setting a new target for ourselves: 7 million tourists by 2030 and a total industry turnover of 100 billion rubles», – said Kazan Mayor.
According to him, tourism is becoming one of the key sectors of the municipal economy. The steady growth for accommodation facilities – hotel occupancy in the summer reaches 90% – has stimulated the development of hotel infrastructure. Three new hotels were opened last year. It allowed accommodation facilities increasing the number of beds by 500. To date, there are 238 accommodation facilities in Kazan with 8,786 rooms and 17,750 beds.
The event calendar contributes to the growth of the tourist flow. Last year, the city was awarded at the International Russian Event Awards in the nomination “The best city for Event Tourism”. The experts recognized a work on the formation of the image of the city with a number of significant events that took place in the city, including the BRICS Summit, the BRICS+ Youth Festival, various international forums, and others.
«To create new points of attraction, large-scale projects are being implemented in the city- the renovation of the Zoo, the construction of a new airport passenger terminal and the creation of a Center for Unique Craftsmen. We are confident that Kazan will continue to strengthen its status as one of the most attractive cities in Russia and will become a point of attraction for millions of people from all over the world», - said the Mayor of the city.
