(KZN.RU, January 4, by Renat Shirmanov) Subway construction is proceeding apace in Kazan. The goal remains unchanged – three new stations must receive their first passengers by May. This was announced by Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin, who, along with Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, had a working tour of the Yashlek, Severnyi Vokzal and Aviastroitel'naya stations.
The new stations are in a high degree of readiness. The builders are working on the lobbies, and the tracks are undergoing test runs. "Our goal remains unchanged: By May, the three stations must be opened. Today, we once again discussed two possible ways of further development of the subway in Kazan. When we have final data on passenger traffic from the Transportation Committee, we'll be able to tell Kazan residents where exactly the next subway line will run," promised the mayor.
