I.Metshin: "Our goal is to improve road carrying capacity"
(KZN.RU, November 12, by Renat Shirmanov) On November 15, a month under the code name of "Parking" will kick off in the capital of Tatarstan. Its main purpose is to improve the carrying capacity of urban roads and to fight parking violations.
By the end of the year, seven new multi-storey car parks will have been built in Kazan. At the moment, there are three car parks built for the 2013 Universiade – at Baturin Street and at “Kremlyovskaya” and “Gorki” subway stations. There are also parking lots at shopping centers and other institutions.
"The fight against illegal parking is an unpopular measure, but the whole world has passed through this. There are dozens of improperly parked vehicles on any given street, but thousands can't drive normally because of them. We need to work with our drivers, and enforcement should be combined with intensive information work,” said Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
