Today in
Kazan, the Tchaikovsky Children's Music School No. 1 has opened after the
renovation. The building on Gorky Street, 22/26, a cultural heritage site, was
completely reconstructed by its 90th anniversary. An interactive museum was established
here, new musical instruments were purchased for children, and the yard was
equipped for holding chamber concerts. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and
People's Artists of Russia Denis Matsuev and Konstantin Khabensky congratulated
the students and teachers at the festive concert today.
“The
decision on renovation was timed to the 90th anniversary of the music school. This
institution is one of the founders of musical education in Kazan. Sofia
Gubaidulina, Rustem Yakhin and other outstanding musicians started their career
here,”- said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the city.
Music
School No. 1 has been located for more than 30 years in a two-storey building
with an area of 1,266.8 sq.m. , built in 1905. Over the years, the building has
become dilapidated, some of the wooden had deteriorated, the ceilings and the
walls have begun to ruin. The renovation began in August last year.
Farit
Amerkhanov, the acting director of the school told the visitors that in 2015
the school building received the status of a cultural heritage site of regional
significance. This status was taken into account when creating layouts of new
premises and during renovation. Materials for decoration were selected
according to old drawings. The construction workers also managed to preserve
the ancient tiles between the first and second floors of the building.
The Mayor
of the city, together with the guests, inspected the renovated facilities. They
also looked around the museum of the music school. According to teacher Anna
Sekletova, the entire 90-year history of the school is collected here, and
among the most valuable exhibits are the violin of Ruvim Polyakov, the founder
of the school, , and the piano played by Sergei Rachmaninoff during his visit
to Kazan.
Going out
on the balcony, the honored guests inspected the landscaped yard of the
institution with a stage. Chamber concerts and performances of students will be
held here in summer.
In total,
174.1 million rubles were allocated from the budgets of the city and the
republic for the overhaul and purchase of equipment.
After the
tour, Ilsur Metshin, Denis Matsuev and Konstantin Khabensky attended a concert
on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the educational institution.
“We were informed
in time that the conditions at the music school did not correspond to its
famous graduates. It's great that we managed to renovate the school and
purchase new instruments,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
Actor
Konstantin Khabensky congratulated the music school staff. “The right
investment is an investment in children, which will definitely pay off. I am
glad that the Mayor of Kazan monitors the upbringing of the younger generation
and does everything possible so that children do not feel a lack of attention.
I am calm for Kazan,”- he said.
Pianist
Denis Matsuev noted that the institution made a strong impression on him: “I am
sure that the renovated building will please the eye, and the cultural stuffing
of the institution will remain at the same high level.” After the welcoming
words, the pianist performed one of Schubert's impromptu performances, “Juggler”
by Moritz Moshkovsky and an improvised musical piece.
