Ilsur Metshin met with the new Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan Yerlan
Iskakov. The parties discussed the prospects of future cooperation.
Yerlan Iskakov has been appointed Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan in
September. Prior to that, he worked as the Chief of Staff of the Kazakh Foreign
Ministry, and previously – as the head of the representative office of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan in Almaty.
Ilsur Metshin noted the Consul General's advanced diplomatic experience. “We
are very pleased to welcome such a respected diplomat to our city. You have an
impressive record of service and held responsible posts. For us, your
appointment to the post shows a respect for Tatarstan and Kazan, - the head of
the city said. – In turn, we also want to express great respect for Kazakhstan,
we have a lot of friends there. Let Kazan greet you warmly and become your home”.
Yerlan Iskakov thanked the Mayor for his hospitality and told about his
first impressions of the capital of Tatarstan. “It is the third week since I
have been here, and I am very impressed by the number of various events and
meetings –the Consul General said. - Today Kazan is integrated into the world
community, the city has become one of the world capitals. By holding major
international events, you set a very high level. For example, the CIS Games
were held recently. I am very glad that we are cooperating, that we have twin
cities”.
The Mayor of Kazan and the newly appointed Consul General of Kazakhstan
also discussed plans for future cooperation. Today, the capital of Tatarstan
cooperates with Kazakhstan in the trade and economic, scientific and technical,
tourist and cultural spheres.
