Today, the Mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin laid flowers at the spontaneous memorial at school No. 175 of the
Sovetsky district. The head of the city arrived to the scene after the
operation. “It is hard to accept the terrible tragedy that happened in
peacetime. On a sunny day, parents lost their children, and teachers were
killed. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to all families and friends,”-
Ilsur Metshin said.
The Mayor of Kazan also
expressed his best wishes for a speedy recovery to injured. “We will do our
utmost to save the children and adults who remain in hospitals. Today, such memorials
are organized throughout the country and abroad – people leaving flowers and toys,
give a piece of their heart, expressing support for families,”- the head of the
city continued.
I. Metshin thanked teachers
for their coherent actions in extreme situation. “Special thanks to the
director of the school and teaching staff who did everything possible to save
the lives of children. What happened is terrible. We express our sorrow. May
the memory of victims live forever,”- the head of the city said.
For the second day, Kazan
residents come to school No. 175 to pay tribute to the memory of killed children
and teachers. People are laying flowers, toys, sweets and candles.
For reference, the tragedy at school
No. 175 occurred on 11 May. Nine people were killed, among them seven children
and two adults, 23 people were hospitalized. Today, the IL-76 plane of the
Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations took off from Kazan airport and landed
in Moscow. There were eight victims on board, including three adults and five
children. They will receive all the necessary medical care in the capital.
