The labor market
situation is being stabilized in Kazan. During peak period of last year, more
than 32 thousand people were registered in the employment centers, while in
early March there were 14 thousand people- said the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur
Metshin and instructed to assist citizens in job search.
In 2020, the tense
situation in the labor market, caused by restrictions due to the coronavirus
pandemic, has developed in almost all cities of Russia. In Kazan, the maximum
unemployment rate was recorded in October 2020 - 5.1% of the workforce - reported
Timur Mullin, director of the Kazan Employment Center.
More than 53
thousand people applied to employment centers searching a job. The peak of
applications was in April –at that month, more than 15 thousand people were
registered. The peak of registered unemployment was recorded in October.
However, the
registered unemployment rate is steadily declining– as of March 1, 2021, it decreased
to 2.19% (14055 people). Among those who applied to the employment centers,
more than 26 thousand citizens were employed, most of them in education, trade,
production, transport, healthcare, hotel and restaurant business.
Now, most of the
vacancies are in the areas of production, construction, transport, health and
education. In the structure of the market, more than 60% vacancies are industrial
worker jobs with a salary of up to 70 thousand rubles.
“We are satisfied
with the reduction of unemployment. These are good indicators in comparison with
other million-person cities, - Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, commented. –
The number of vacancies exceeds the number of unemployed: 16 thousand vacancies
against 14 thousand people registered in employment centers. This shows that if
the specialists are focused on solving problems, then there will be results.”
It is expected
that in 2021, the unemployment rate in Kazan will be less than 1.11% of the
total labor force, T. Mullin said.
