The gala match of the city stage of the Golden Puck tournament was held at the Black Lake park in Kazan
The city stage of the Golden Puck tournament named after Tarasov - Russian competitions of young hockey players started at the Black Lake park today. This year, a record number of participants – 2,140 athletes in 107 teams-took part in the competition. Today, in the gala match, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, heads of district administrations, representatives of the Hockey Federations of Tatarstan and Kazan, as well as veterans of the Ak Bars hockey club played together with young hockey players.
“This match opens the final part of the Golden Puck tournament. In our city, there are 78 outdoor hockey rinks for young hockey players, as well as 12 sports palaces with 15 hockey rinks with synthetic ice. This infrastructure helps them to grow and defend the honor of Kazan, Tatarstan and even Russia”, - said the head of the city, opening the game.
Mixed teams of “green” and “white” met on the ice rink in the center of Kazan. They included schoolchildren, the heads of the administrations of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts Sergei Mironov, from the Sovetsky district-Roman Fatkhutdinov and others. The Mayor of the city, number 77, played for the “greens”.
The athletes played two periods of 15 minutes each. Ilsur Metshin scored the first goal of the match against the “whites”. The first period ended in a draw with the score of 2:2. However, in the second period of the match, the “greens” scored 4 more goals, which allowed them to lead and become winners with the score of 6:3.
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the manufacturer of sports equipment presented professional sticks to all the young participants of the tournament.
This year, the district stage of the Golden Puck was held from January 8 to 23. The first-place teams take part in the final of the city tournament. It will run until February 17.
The teams that took the first place in the city competitions in each age group will take part in the republican stage of the tournament.
