I.Metshin: “Today we are not only repairing, but also building roads”

This year in Kazan, the total area of road repairs and construction was 1.8 million sq.m.  Such information was announced today at the Business Monday at the Executive Committee of Kazan by Igor Kulyazhev, acting head of the Executive Committee-Chair of the land improvement committee.

2020 was a record year for Kazan in terms of road works funding. Compared to last year, thanks to the support of Tatarstan President and the Federal government, the amount of funding doubled and was 14.3 billion rubles.

As in previous years, Kazan continued to repair the most worn-out sections of roads and driveways.

The city continues to implement the “Safe and high-quality roads” national project. “In general, 90 sections of roads and driveways on a total area of 1 million sq.m. were repaired under the program. Total length of the repaired sections of streets is 30 km”, - said Igor Kulyazhev.

Residents of 14 villages – Salmachi, Sukhaya reka, Kinderi, Zalesny and others-also received new roads. In these villages, 18 roads were repaired on an area of 68 thousand sq.m. Besides, two access roads to two garden sites with a total length of more than one kilometer were repaired. “The pace of road construction is still significantly behind housing construction. Therefore, work in this direction in the upcoming years is one of our priorities”, - said I.Kulyazhev.

A real gift for the City Day and the 100th anniversary of the TASSR in Kazan was the completion of the first stage of construction of the section of the Great Kazan Ring Road from Midkhat Bulatov street to Boriskovskaya street.

Along with the repair work, the city is designing and building roads. Thus, the reconstruction of the street section has been completed on Maksimov street from Pyotr Viter street to Dementyev street.

In the Kirovsky district, work is being completed on the construction of the first stage of a four-lane road from Nesmelov street to the 32nd Voenny gorodok -a relief road of the Gorkovsky highway.

The designing the first phase of the 3.1 km six-lane road along the Voznesensky tract from Ametyevsky highway to the Victory Ave. in the Sovetsky district.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that thanks to the allocated amount, it was made possible to implement a long-planned project. “It is important that today we are not only repairing roads, but also building them. Such momentous projects, not only we have been dreaming about them for the last 10 years, but also our predecessors since Soviet times. This is about the Voznesensky tract, the interchange at the Orenburgsky tract, the relief road of the Gorkovsky highway. We express thanks to the Federal government and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for their close attention to the capital of the republic of Tatarstan”, - I.Metshin said.
