The new school year will start in two weeks. Irek
Rizvanov, head of the Department of education of the city, told about the
readiness of schools for the new academic year today at Business Monday at the
Executive Committee of Kazan.
Today, the educational network in Kazan consists of
166 schools and 309 kindergartens. In the new school year, it will traditionally
expand: two schools and eleven kindergartens will open this autumn in Kazan.
Preparation for the school year is not only covering the
construction of new facilities, but also the renovation, updating of equipment,
improvement, said the head of the Department of education Irek Rizvanov.
“According to the overhaul program, 11 buildings are
being renovated this year – boarding school № 4 and 10 kindergarten buildings.
Also, as part of the current maintenance and repair program, 18 schools are
being updated”, - I.Rizvanov said.
In total, 148 thousand 527 Kazan children will go to
school this year, which is 12 thousand more students than last year. The education
process will start for 20.5 thousand first-graders.
The enrollment to kindergartens continues – this year
more than 75 thousand young Kazan citizens will go to preschools.
As the speaker noted, another important issue of
preparing schools for the new school year is connected with current
epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus. “Prevention measures will
be implemented in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological regulations, in
particular, contactless thermometry, daily wet cleaning, ventilation,
antiseptics devices in the facilities and in bathrooms, the installation of recirculators",
– I.Rizvanov said.
As for the mask regime, the protective masks will have
to be worn only by employees of catering units and
technical staff, engaged in cleaning. There is no such requirement for teachers
and children, said I.Rizvanov.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin emphasized that in the new
school year it is very important to explain to children that they are returning
to schools in the new conditions. “The separation of flows, access control,
compliance with hygiene rules-all these new requirements are aimed at
protecting the health of children and teachers at schools”, –I.Metshin said.
The head of the city also called on parents and teachers to take an active part
in explaining the new rules to children.
