Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin monitored the
progress of construction works at one of the most important infrastructure
facilities in the city – the Zarechnaya sewage pumping station (SPS) with a
capacity of 20 thousand m3 of wastewater per hour. Construction of the first
stage of the station has entered the home stretch – it is planned to start
commissioning in test mode in July. Commissioning of the new SPS will allow the
city to open new opportunities for the construction of millions square meters
of housing and social facilities and will serve as a springboard for the
capital of Tatarstan in its development, Ilsur Metshin said.
The construction of the Zarechnaya station is one of
the key projects for the city, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. “We have
entered the final stage at one of the most important infrastructure facilities
in the city. This is a project that we have been dreaming about for a very long
time. These are the blood systems of the city, crucial for its development-
said the Mayor. - Thanks to the investment program of Vodokanal and the support
of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, we are finally completing the first
stage. This will allow us to open new opportunities for construction of several
million square meters in the city, to build new social facilities, housing, and
business facilities. This is a huge step forward for us”.
Commissioning of the pumping station will allow MUE
Vodokanal to receive an additional 2.5 thousand m3 of wastewater per hour at
the first stage. And when all stages of construction are fully completed, the
pumping station will enter its full design capacity of 20,000 m3/h. About 650
thousand residents will be provided with normal sewerage.
Zarechnaya station will ensure receiving and waste
water transportation to biological sewage treatment plants in the Northern part
of the city.
Presently, Verkhnaya station performs this work, but
its productivity does not exceed 12 thousand m3 per hour. It was commissioned
in 1973 and operates without a reserve capacity with a large overload, said
Andrey Yegorov, Director of the Vodokanal Municipal Unitary Enterprise.
Commissioning of the station will allow receiving and
transportation sewage in the amount of up to 15 thousand m3 per day and provide
sewerage to 4 million sq. m. of housing.
In total, according to A. Yegorov, the first stage of
the station construction is 75% completed.
The final completion of the first stage of the station
construction was constantly postponed, said Azat Nigmatzanov, first deputy head
of the Executive Committee, because the builders had to face a number of
difficulties, including underground water issue.
