Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, called for more active
involvement of virologists and epidemiologists on informing the population with
reliable information about the situation today at a meeting of the headquarters
for combating the spread of coronavirus infection. Vladimir Zhavoronkov, deputy
Minister of health of Tatarstan, informed on the disease rate and the operation
of medical facilities.
“Today, every patient, having ARVI or pneumonia, is
considered a potential COVID-19 patient. In this regard, two precautionary
hospitals have been established – the Hospital for infectious diseases and the Republican
Clinical Hospital, - the speaker reported. – On the basis of these hospitals,
patients are being examined, including laboratory tests for coronavirus. Based
on the complex of clinical laboratory tests and the severity of the illness, a
decision is made on the further routing of the patient”.
At the moment, Kazan has deployed a sufficient number of
beds for the combating coronavirus infection, the total capacity is 1155 beds,
V. Zhavoronkov said. “This is bed capacity for the treatment of all pneumonia
and ARVI cases, not just coronavirus, - he explained. - If necessary,
additional capacity will be deployed at the city's facilities and nearby
districts of the Republic with a total capacity of 2,051 beds for the Central
district.”
The Mayor of Kazan called for strengthening the work on
informing the citizens with reliable information about the coronavirus
situation. “We need to be guided by the opinions of our specialists –
virologists, epidemiologists, who would give us recommendations not only
regarding the work of medical institutions, but also the treatment of diseases,
- he said - panic moods spread faster than the opinions of professionals on the
Internet, we need to work on this”.
