According to previous
week, Kazan is among the five most disciplined cities in terms of keeping self-isolation
regime. This was announced by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at a meeting of
the city headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus. He urged
citizens to continue observing regime imposed in Tatarstan.
More than 2.5
thousand citizens are under medical supervision
As of April 5, the number of infected in the world
exceeded 1 million 226 thousand 235 people. In Russia, the number of cases was
5 thousand 389, of which 333 people recovered and 43 people died.
In Tatarstan, as of April 5 the number of infected people
was 25, 6 people recovered, said Gulnara Gaifullina, deputy head of Kazan
health department. For information, today the Operational headquarters of
Tatarstan reported on 16 new cases of the disease.
In Kazan, 389 additional beds have been deployed for
the treatment of coronavirus infected patients. If necessary, another 1,393
beds will be deployed, Gaifullina reported.
Presently, citizens arriving from coronavirus infected
countries are to be isolated for 14 days from the arrival date. All of them are
tested for the virus. Besides, more than 150 people, who have had contacted
with COVID-19 infected cases, are under medical supervision.
As of April 5, more than 2 thousand 580 citizens are
under medical supervision, and medical supervision of another 4 thousand 276 citizens
of Kazan has been terminated. In total, since the beginning of the spread of virus,
more than 6,8 thousand Kazan citizens have been under medical supervision.
“Today, one of the key issues is the control of
quarantined people. Health workers control them daily, make tests, and visit
them. We will continue this work”, - said Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

Since last week, scheduled doctors’ appointments, as
well as scheduled hospitalizations, were canceled. The workload of primary care
doctors has increased significantly, and the number of home visits to patients
has increased. Therefore, support for medical workers is crucial, said the deputy
head of Kazan health department and thanked the Mayor for deploying additional vehicles
to medical teams, as well as providing free transport cards to health workers.
“We once again thank all the medical staff of the
capital of the republic, who work very hard. Our doctors reaffirmed their high
status once again”, - I.Metshin said.

Citizens are urged to follow the essential rules of
personal hygiene: wash their hands, keep a social distance, and avoid
