in Kazan are on high alert in case of rapid spread of coronavirus infection.
Vladimir Zhavoronkov, Deputy Minister of health of Tatarstan, spoke about the
epidemiological situation in the city and the work of medical facilities today at
the Kazan Executive Committee at the headquarters meeting for prevention the
spread of coronavirus
More than 4
thousand citizens are under medical supervision in Tatarstan
The spread of coronavirus infection today remains
actual, said V.Zhavoronkov and cited statistics as an example. As of March 29,
the number of cases in the world exceeded 718 thousand people, 33 thousand deaths,
and more than 150 thousand recovered.
An alarming situation is developing in Russia, as of
March 29 (12:00), 1534 cases of infection were registered in the country.
During the pandemic period, 8 people died in the country and 64 patients
recovered. In Tatarstan, as of March 29, more than 4 thousand citizens are
under medical supervision, and medical supervision of 622 patients has been suspended.
There are 12 confirmed cases in Kazan.
In view of the spread of infection in Russia,
preventive measures are being taken. Thus, V.Zhavoronkov recalled that from March
28 to April 5, a non-work week was imposed by the order of the Russian President.
Since March 30, Russia closes all borders.

additional beds have been set up in Kazan
Kazan medical facilities are ready to provide patients
with everything necessary. V.Zhavoronkov recalled that the Republican Clinical Hospital
for the Infectious Diseases has 309 beds to help infectious patients, and 163
beds for patients with bronchopulmonary complications have been set up at the
hospital № 2. If necessary, a total of 2,665 beds will be set up at the
hospitals in the city and surrounding areas of the republic.
The utmost attention is paid to the isolation of
citizens who arrived from the countries affected by coronavirus infection. “They
are quarantined for 14 days from arrival, and are tested for COVID-19. During
this period, patients stay at home are under medical supervision. In case of
symptoms of the disease, the order of their hospitalization is determined”, -
V.Zhavoronkov said.

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin thanked doctors for their
work, noting that today the health of the entire country depends on them. “Health
workers are on the front line, much depends on their organization and
coherence. Today, the Tatarstan Ministry of Health and the Health Department
have engaged not only all existing staff, but also residents and undergraduates
of medical universities. This is a big and important work that is very
necessary for us”, - said I.Metshin.
The Mayor called on citizens to help doctors- to
observe the rules of personal hygiene and not to violate the rules of
self-isolation. “The key thing in this period is the responsibility and
awareness of the population, not only health workers must combat the spread of infection, personal self – isolation and
responsibility are a priority. We must limit our contacts with each other, and
especially with the elderly”, - I.Metshin urged Kazan citizens.
