I. Metshin: “The most important reward for us is that citizens grow conscious in matters of cleanliness”

(KZN.RU, June 3, Alina Berezhnaya). On June 1, the spring two-month period for sanitary cleaning of the city ended in Kazan. In two months, 283 thousand cubic meters of various garbage was taken to landfills, which is about 12.5 thousand KAMAZ trucks. In general, more than 140 thousand people took part in cleaning Kazan. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, reported such data today at the Business Monday.

Streets, lawns, parks, and squares were cleaned in the capital of Tatarstan, and piles of rubbish formed during the winter were removed. In two months, the streets were cleaned on an area of 21 million square meters. Part of the streets was washed with a special shampoo to clean the remnants of the anti-icing agent after the winter period. 60 liters of concentrated means and 72 thousand cubic meters of water were used for this.

Since April 1, security fences with a total length of 120 km have been cleaned and washed, 29 thousand traffic signs and more than 650 bus shelters were fixed. Lawns were also cleaned along the roads on an area of 17 million square meters, 3800 yard areas of Kazan were cleaned.

Much attention was paid to cleaning green areas. Thus, the area of cleaned parks and squares was 360 hectares. In addition, more than 50 unauthorized dumps and rubbish that were formed during the winter in forests and ravines of the private sector were eliminated. According to I. Kulyazhev, the largest landfills were found in the area of the Goluboe Lake, Berezovaya Roscha, Rodina Street, in the residential areas Kindery and Kadyshevo. On average, more than 5 thousand cubic meters of various wastes were dumped daily to landfills, and landfills received 20% more garbage in two months than in other months.

According to I. Kulyazhev, indifferent Kazan citizens, who came out on a citywide subbotnik, made a big contribution to cleaning the city. On this day, more than 48 thousand Kazan citizens were involved in cleaning the city. During the day, 20 thousand cubic meters of garbage were removed.

“All the planned events of the two-month period are fully completed. Active and well-coordinated work of citizens is highly appreciated in the framework of the contest “Ecological Spring 2019” held by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RT. Kazan won the first place in the nomination “The Best Urban District”, noted I. Kulyazhev. He added that currently, Kazan is working on the maintenance of the facilities, the preparation of guest routes and hospitality zones.

But the most important reward for us is that citizens grow conscious in matters of cleanliness. But there is still a lot of work in this direction. Residents themselves take part in the improvement, landscaping of the city. Sanitary cleaning of the city is proof of that. Thanks to everyone who took part in it”, said I. Metshin. However, problems remain despite the activity of citizens, continued the Mayor of Kazan. “There are still unauthorized dumps, so our attention should be constantly. We are fighting for the high title “Comfortable city” and cleanliness is our priority in this direction”, said I. Metshin.
