(KZN.RU,
February 27, Anton Nozdrin). 168 Kazan hotels have passed the official
classification, which is 88% of the total number of the city's accommodation.
Another 5% of hotels are waiting for obtaining the certificate. Daria
Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee, reported this to
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, at today's Business Monday.
She
reminded that, according to the Federal Law №108, all means of accommodation in
cities, hosting the World Cup in 2018, had to be classified by January 1. 7% of
hotels and hostels do not pass through this procedure in the capital of
Tatarstan. “It is about 3 hotels and about 8 hostels with a total stock of 100
rooms. The owners of some of them plan to cease operations, while others are
preparing to sell the business”, explained the director of the committee. She
noted that mostly, hostels of apartment type are included in the category of
closing. “The owners of these hostels rent a house in hiring for a day without
incurring any liability to the lodgers”, said D. Sannikova. The new owners of
the business will need to go through the classification process for maintaining
the profile.
I. Metshin
noted the timeliness of the classification procedure. “It testifies the
maturity of the city hotel business”, he said. The Mayor described the number
of rooms, not passed classification, as non-critical. In general license fund
of the city is more than 7.4 thousand hotel rooms.
D.
Sannikova also reported that as part of a survey of hotels, not only the total
number of rooms is estimated but the personnel and their knowledge in the field
of hotel services, and sanitary norms requirements are conducted. According to
the system of classifications, one of the categories assigned to the hotel (5
stars, 4 stars, 3 stars, 2 stars, 1 star, and no stars). The director of the
committee added that Kazan has three hotel of 5 stars class, 19 hotels of 4-star,
31 hotels of 3-star, 29 hotels of 2-star, 7 hotels of 1-star hotels, and 102
hotels without stars. “Regardless of stars, all hotels, which passed the
official classification and are officially confirmed their category, may
receive visitors during the Confederations Cup 2017 and the World Cup 2018”,
said D. Sannikova.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, marked the need to keep the hospitality area under
constant control due to the preparation of the city for major international
events.
