37 tons of low-quality animal products are not approved for implementation in Kazan in 2016

(KZN.RU, February 20, Anton Nozdrin). Timur Galeev, the head of the Office, reported on the outcome of the Kazan State Veterinary Association in 2016 at today's Business Monday. 688 facts of violation of veterinary legislation have been revealed in the past year.

T. Galeev said that the quality of products entering the markets of the city checked in 12 laboratories and 16 points. “During the year, 678 000 examinations were conducted by such laboratories”, said T. Galeev. He also said that veterinary specialists annually monitor the epizootic well-being during the holiday of Eid al-Adha. “About 6000 examinations were conducted in places of ritual sacrifice during the celebration period. 128 tons of bio-waste were sent for recycling”, said the head of the State Veterinary Association.

T. Galeev noted that the posts around the clock to prevent the transportation of animal origin products, not satisfying the animal health requirements, have been organized at all entrances to the city from 21 to 25 December. According to him, 76 violations were detected during these 5 days.

He also said that the work of veterinary inspection is carried out to detect and prevent the unauthorized trade in products of animal origin. 688 facts of violation of veterinary legislation have been identified for the 2016. And in general, about 37 tons of low-quality and dangerous products of animal and vegetable origin were not allowed for implementation over the past year in Kazan.

“Despite the obvious epizootic threat, veterinary doctors managed to maintain the well-being from all dangerous animal diseases for a year”, continued T. Galeev. He noted that no cases of rabies have been recorded over the past year on the territory of Kazan (in 2015 there were 11 such cases). This was made possible thanks to the preventive work: the layout of more than 10 thousand doses of vaccines against rabies in the areas of habitat of wild carnivores, and more than 25 thousand dogs and cats were vaccinated in the veterinaries.

The work of chipping the small animals continues. This method allows the positive identification of the animal and its owner anywhere in the world. In total, 476 animals were chipped. Monthly republican action on free providing of veterinary services for dogs castration and sterilization for privileged categories of citizens is carried out. “In total, 60 free surgeries performed in 2016. This work will be carried out this year”, said T. Galeev.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said that there is a lot of work in this direction. “37 tons removed from sale of products - this is a serious, big number. I ask to continue monitoring for the security of our residents”, said the Mayor. Also, the Mayor of Kazan thanked the specialists of association for the great work before the New Year’s holidays.
