January 22). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, attended the XVI Congress of
the party “United Russia”, which was held in Moscow on January 21-22.
On the
first day of the congress, discussion sites have been working, on which the
first results of the election program of the “United Russia” were announced and
work priorities in the coming year were determined. Topics of quality of the
authority work and popular control, support for entrepreneurship and efficient
use of budgetary resources, the development of science, education, culture and
environmental issues, quality of housing services, the prospects for the
development of agriculture were discussed at the sites.
Tatarstan
was introduced at each site. Teachers, doctors, energy specialists, heads of
rural settlements, representatives of public and youth organizations, deputies
of the State Council of the Republic are among the delegates. Farid
Mukhametshin, the Secretary of the United Russia in Tatarstan and the chairman
of the Tatarstan State Council, Andrei Kondratyev, the head of the regional
Executive Committee of the “United Russia”, and others were included in the
Tatarstan delegation.
The plenary
session of the Congress was held on the second day, at which the main results
of the election program and tasks for 2017 were discussed. Dmitry Medvedev, the
chairman of the party “United Russia” and the Prime Minister, welcomed the
audience. The XVI Congress approved the renewal of the Supreme and the General
Councils of the “United Russia”.
Also,
delegates unanimously elected Dmitry Medvedev for a new five-year term as
chairman of the party, and Boris Gryzlov was elected as the chairman of the
Supreme Council of the party. Sergei Neverov was re-elected to the post of
Secretary of the renewed General Council.
I. Metshin
became a member of the General Council of the party “United Russia” in the
election of the higher organs of party control in the plenary session of the XV
“United Russia” Congress on February 6 last year.
