Ilsur Metshin about a fire in the school №32: “This is an alert signal”

(KZN.RU, December 5, Alsu Safina, Anton Nozdrin). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, called the fire that occurred last week in a school №32 an alert signal at the Business Monday. Repair of the institution began the very next day after the fire.

Sergei Mironov, the head of the the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts administration, reported that 486 students and 45 teachers were in the school at the time of the fire on November 30, and they immediately organized the evacuation. “Open burning was eliminated after 27 minutes, the heat source was on the ground floor, and the reasons are being investigated”, said Sergei Mironov.

Work on the replacement of windows, floors on the 2nd floor, repair of doors, paint, plaster, restoration of fire alarm and wiring have been started at the school the next day, and teachers together with parents organized the work of cleaning the premises.

“Today, students have returned for their desks”, said Sergei Mironov. “The first floor’s operation is limited, all other floors are functioning. In this regard, minor adjustments were made to the lessons schedule. Full restoration of the school will be completed by the end of the winter school holidays”.

Ilsur Metshin thanked the teaching staff of the school, which, as he emphasized, acting cohesively, making the evacuation in the school building fully completed in 3 minutes. “Unfortunately, the skills practiced during the exercises, conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection, come in handy”, said I. Metshin. Particularly, he noted the history teacher, who knocked the window on the second floor, where there was heavy smoke, by improvised means.

“The educational process is restored. We are waiting for the result of the investigation to find out what was the cause of the fire: the wiring or something else. Be sure to make conclusions from this and be on the alert”, said Ilsur Metshin and instructed Ilsur Hadiullin, the chief of the Department of Education, to continue practicing emergency situations skills in schools.
