I. Metshin: “The results of the socio-economic development for the 9 months show stability”

(KZN.RU, November 28, Alsu Safina). The results of the socio-economic development of Kazan for the first 9 months of this year indicate stability and efficient operation of large and small businesses. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, expressed this opinion at today's Business Monday.

Ivan Kuznetsov, the deputy head of the Executive Committee for Economic Development, said that the index of industrial production in January-September 2016 amounted to 100%, compared to the same period last year. The volume of industrial production increased by 5.2% or by 11.5 billion rubles to 237.7 billion rubles. 100.4 billion rubles of investments attracted into the main capital in the economy of Kazan, which is 0.4% higher than last year.

“The highest growth rates recorded in the sectors of machinery and equipment, pulp and paper production and printing, production of leather and leather products”, said Ivan Kuznetsov. “Also, the growth in the chemical industry, food production, rubber and plastic products, optical and electrical equipment is continued”.

“We started this year with great concern in tough economic sanctions, which are continuing, but the results for the first 9 months show stability”, said Ilsur Metshin about mentioned numbers. “This is a sign of great skill of managers in the flagship of large-scale industry and small and medium-sized businesses. These results are worthy”, said the Mayor. “This is the daily work, the search of markets, holding companies afloat and ensuring its competitiveness, preservation of jobs, wages and taxes, by which the urban economy and the republic live. We hope that we will work well in the remaining three months, too”.

Nevertheless, the economic situation remains difficult, there are problems and the alarming numbers, which should be worked on, noted the head of the city. As Ivan Kuznetsov said, such large budget forming enterprises of Kazan as PAO “Kazan Helicopter Plant” and OOO “Kazan plant of silicate wall materials” showed a significant decline in production during the reporting period.

“Due to the fact that the share of PAP “KHP” in the total manufacturing industry is 82%, the negative numbers of the plant impact the index of industrial production of vehicles and equipment”, said Ivan Kuznetsov.

Ilsur Metshin stressed that the “KHP” is one of the industrial leaders. “Today, there is a technical re-equipment, new technologies are being introduced, so this decline is related to the fact that they are investing in the future”, said the Mayor of Kazan. “We hope that they will show growth soon”.

According to the Mayor, a slight increase in indicators, related to small and medium businesses, is pleasing.

“Kazan has 63.2 thousand small and medium-sized businesses”, Ivan Kuznetsov cited data. “This is by 2.8% more than in the same period last year. The number of employed in small enterprises increased by 2% this year and amounted to 185.6 thousand people.”

“The number of small and medium business entities is not reduced. The number of employed in small and medium-sized businesses is large enough. But we still have a lot of work to do together”, said the Mayor of Kazan and reminded that a new package of benefits for the city entrepreneurs was developed at the beginning of the year.
