The Concept of the Kazan General Plan, summarized by the results of consideration of the four options and approved for further design, became the achievement of 2016. Vladimir Fomin, the head of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Executive Committee, said this today at the Business Monday and noticed that one of the main areas of management work was to develop the General Plan this year in the framework of the contract, concluded with the State Unitary Enterprise “NI&PP General Plan of Moscow”. He noted that the variants differ in the direction of territory development, and accordingly, the calculated indicators and transport models.

The final concept was developed as a synthesis of the strengths of all 4 options. The concept proposes to develop in the form of a compact city, while maintaining the possibility of placing new points of growth in the undeveloped areas. It provides reorganization of the existing part of the city, the replacement of the industrial areas in the social and business development, the development of chordates directions bypassing the historic center and the development of transport links with the areas adjacent to Kazan (Kazan agglomeration) is planned in the transport model. The main indicator adopted: the estimated population in the 2035 is 1.43 million people.

“Management is a very important and difficult job. The main question for us is the General Plan. We decided on the concept, have jointly decided to develop the city at the expense of internal resources”, said Ilsur Metshin. “One such example is output and renovation of industrial zones. All questions, concerning the changes of the General Plan, the prospects of development of the city, of course, must pass and be put to discussion in the professional community in the first place”.
