November 10). The festive event, dedicated to the Day of the Interior ministry
officers, was held today in the KRK “Pyramid” in Kazan. Ildar Khalikov, the
Prime Minister of the RT, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council
of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Artem Hohorin, the minister of
Internal Affairs, Asgat Safarov, the head of the Office of the President, Renat
Timerzyanov, the chief federal inspector in the RT, heads of ministries and
departments, veterans and personnel of law-enforcement bodies took part in it.
Guests of
the festival had traditionally honored the memory of officers, who were killed
in the line of duty, with a minute of silence. Then the guests were able to see
the concert with the participation of distinguished performers of Tatarstan.
The speaker
of the State Council of the RT congratulated those present on behalf of the
republic's leadership. Farid Mukhametshin highlighted the critical role of the
police in the republic's development and maintaining stability, noting that the
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan is among the five best divisions in
Russia, reports the press-service of the department. Artem Hohorin, the
minister of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan, congratulated his colleagues and
emphasized that employees of internal affairs agencies of the republic are
combined by respect for the service, understanding its importance and
necessity.

The Day of the
Interior ministry officers of the Russian Federation was established by the
Presidential Decree of October 13, 2011. Holiday story began on November 10,
1917, when the Decree of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs on the
establishment of a workers' militia was signed. However, only in 1962, this
date became a holiday, when November 10 was made the “Day of the Soviet
militia” be the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. The
name of the festival has changed since the collapse of the USSR, since 1991
November 10 it was called “The Police Day”. Holiday got its new name after the
law “On Police” entered into force on March 1, 2011.
