I. Metshin: “Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest is a mega-project of the year”

(KZN.RU, November 7, Mikhail Chentsov). Program of parks and squares improvement for 2016 ends in Kazan. One of the program’s main projects of the year was the improvement of the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest, the first phase of which will be completed by mid-December. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee of improvements, said this today at the Business Monday.

I. Kulyazhev told that those squares and parks, works on which were launched this year, will be primarily included in the program for the improvement of public spaces for the next year: the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest, the Chernoe Ozero, the recreation area at the Lake Lebyazhye, and landscaping work on the Kaban Lake will continue.

“Work in the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest is still ongoing. We are planning two phases of work. This year, it is planned to complete work on settlement of a ski resort, lighting, laying of tracks, which are made on the already trodden paths to avoid damaging of the rest of the forest”, said the speaker.

Ilsur Metshin noted that improvement of the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest is a mega-project, which is of great importance for the city residents. “Improvement is conducted in an area of 67 hectares, which our predecessors shrewdly planted, mastering neighborhood Gorky and Azino, where forest was located before. It is a favorite place of citizens. Finally we got to the ski resort. We will try our best to have appeared all the conditions for active recreation”, marked the Mayor.

The Mayor told how last week he planted trees in the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest together with the pupils of the skiing school, which will now train here in comfortable conditions. “You should have seen their eyes! That is who we work for”, said the Mayor.

The head of the city said it is planned to improve the coastal zone of the Lake Kaban, noting that this complex issue cannot be solved only by paving stones, flowers and benches, because plenty of technical problems have accumulated during the years of inactivity. “We cannot resolve this issue with the swoop. We invited the best of the best for the design. The Chinese company, which won the competition, has increased the quality level. At the same time, we learn to improve with our Chinese partners on a completely different level of technology”, said the Mayor.

A special feature of this project is the use of sustainable materials and the latest eco-technologies to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a natural environment. The works of the first phase is planned for the coastal zone on the Salimzhanova Street.
