(KZN.RU, November 4, Mikhail Chentsov). The Day of National Unity was celebrated in Kazan with the large-scale meeting-concert “We are together”. The best creative collectives of Tatarstan performed at the concert venue, located on the Kremlin embankment. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and other officials took part in the solemn ceremony.
Despite the cool, snowy weather the site of meeting-concert was full of multi-colored flags of public organizations and Kazan universities, as well as the thousands of multi-colored citizens’ hats. The Day of National Unity united Kazan citizens indeed. Everybody from the smallest to the adult was warming themselves by dancing and singing along with ruddy artists on a stage. The team “Volga-Volga”, Marina Sankova, an Honored Artist of the RT, the children's studio “Schlager” and many others congratulated the guests of the festival.
Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, congratulated the residents, too. “Our country is multiethnic, multi-religious and, of course, the unity of the people is the basis of our powerful Russian state. We live in peace and harmony for centuries and thereby achieve good results. I congratulate all of you on holiday and wish success and prosperity of our republic, our capital and, of course, our country. Congratulations!”, said the head of the republic from the scene.
Irek Zinnurov, the deputy of the State Duma of the VII convocation, addressed congratulatory words to the audience. He noted that it is important that all Russians feel unity with greater civilian team of the country. “Now we have this team both in Russia and in our native Tatarstan. Happy holiday, the Day of National Unity!” said I. Zinnurov.
The Russian Federation State holiday the Day of National Unity is celebrated on November 4. This historic date is rooted in the events of the beginning of the XVII century, when the people's militia, led by Duke Dmitry Pozharsky and suburban headman Kozma Minin, formed in Nizhny Novgorod, expelled the troops of the invaders from Moscow in a series of heavy fighting.
The festivities in honor of the Day of National Unity are held today across the country.
