(KZN.RU,
September 13, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, summed up the
results of the All-Russian Forum of the Council of local government, which
passed yesterday in Moscow and was dedicated to urban development and improvement
of the quality of urban environment, at the today's staff meeting. He spoke at
the forum with a presentation of projects in the field of improvement of public
areas in Kazan.
“We shared
the practice of implementation of urban policy and improvement, design of
public spaces”, said I. Metshin. “Tatarstan was presented as an example of a
pilot project for the honor of our republic. I talked about the presidential
program “Parks and squares”. As always, Tatarstan and our President are ahead
of other regions, which are just starting to think about it”. It was announced at the forum that 183 parks
have been renewed in Tatarstan in the past two years.
The Mayor
pointed out, how delighted the representatives of other regions talked about a
future park and square or an embankment. “There are cities that still live with these embankments since the Soviet era. But there are no such improvement
and renovation projects of the territories as in Tatarstan, except for Moscow
and St. Petersburg”, said I. Metshin.
“Programs
of houses overhaul, construction of kindergartens and others began with such
discussions in the forums”, noted the Mayor. “We believe that another
initiative of ours will result in the federal program”.
Ilsur
Metshin noted that Kazan still has room for improvement, for example, a lot of
work has been done in Moscow. “Muscovites passed the transport facilities for
220 billion rubles only for the City Day. What a sidewalks throughout the city
and bicycle paths!” said the Mayor of Kazan. “When we see, how Moscow changes,
we want all regions picked up this trend”, concluded the head of the city.
