(Kazan City
KZN.RU, June 9, Kseniya Shvetsova). In New Savinovsky district of Kazan a new
pavilion of collection of secondary raw materials for processing opened under
the initiative of "Clean Environment". In just one day of work here it
was possible to collect 1.5 tons of recyclable materials - residents of nearby
households actively joined the separate collection of waste. This is the fourth
such pavilion, and this year it is planned to open at least another 12. Mayor
of Kazan Ilsur Metshin estimated how the collection of recyclable materials at
the site is going on and if the project is important for the city. He talked to
the locals and noted that it is necessary to involve first of all youth to the separate
collection of waste.
Project for
recycling collection was launched together with the Management Company of Privolzhsky
district – at the first stage in the yards mesh containers for the collection
of PET bottles have been established. This experience was successful – activity
of citizens confirmed that they are ready to support such a venture. According
to the director of "Clean Environment" Zarina Naumova, now in the yards
of the district about 45 such containers are set, in which PET bottles and
PMT-cans to recycle are collected. The next step was the opening of collection
points for recycling in special pavilions. Today in Privolzhsky district there
are already two such points, one organized in the Universiade Village, and
another - in New Savinovsky district. "In this pavilion citizens bring
paper, cardboard, bottles, film, plastic pipes and other unnecessary junk.
Clerk weighs it and pays. Rates are set per kilogram of raw materials. Aluminum
cans are the most expensive garbage, for those citizens receive 40 rubles per kilogram,
- Z.Naumova says. - Here the press is installed, by which we convert the waste
into bales, and after - export for processing".
As one of
the project leaders Ilnur Makhmutov told, over the past 9 months with only two
processing points about 500 tons of recyclable materials in the amount of
nearly 2.9 million rubles were exported, and it is only paper and cardboard.
"During this time we distributed about 3 million rubles among people in need,
- I.Mahmutov said. - Management company area also has tangible benefits.
Removal of one cubic meter of garbage in the city costs about 250 rubles. 500
tons of recyclable materials is 4.5 thousand cubic meters of debris. Thus, the
management company has saved more than one million rubles only for garbage
disposal. Plus, we made a space on the municipal solid waste landfill. In fact,
we solve two problems: environmental and social. People get used to a culture
of waste collection, begin to treat the environment more scrupulous"-
I.Mahmutov notes. By the way, the project was run as a startup and fully implemented
on the organizers’ funds.
"We
will support this project, allocate additional space for new such points. In
addition, it is a question of education and culture of our people, who thus
show respect for the city. You took up a lot, a good deal, and I am glad that
we have such active citizens", - I. Metshin said.
Mayor
familiarized with the process of acceptance of recycled materials and examined
those items that are made from it - it is a variety of building materials,
souvenirs, shovels and brooms, and much more. Even the playground, which is
located near the pavilion, is paved with tiles made from recycled materials.
The Mayor talked to people and asked how they relate to the new project. It
turned out that per day you can earn from 300 to 500 rubles by bringing recycled
materials. "This is a good support to low-income segments of the
population. Plus here materials that are badly degraded in natural environment are
collecting - for example, plastic. We are always happy to support such
initiatives,"- I. Metshin said.
To date,
the project organizers have difficulty with the placement of the pavilions, for
which the land must be allocated. The Mayor instructed the Committee of Land
and Property Relations to work on this issue and determine the future
disposition of points for recycling.
In
addition, the organizers have taken the initiative to install bins for separate
waste collection at the sites of various major events. Also in the near future,
according to I.Mahmutov, in the frames of the project "Clean
Environment" it is planned to arrange a massive competition for the
collection of paper waste among the pupils in Kazan. The Mayor approved the
idea, and said that it is necessary to attract people to care about the
environment from the childhood. "We have a large army of young people -
this is high school students, students of colleges and universities. We must
use this opportunity to their environmental education, - I. Metshin said. -
Training is going well when they are interested in the result. If they have the
motivation, including money, we will be able to move forward in this direction seriously".
The
inspection was also attended by chairman of the Committee of housing and
communal services Iskander Giniyatullin, chairman of Land and Property
Relations Committee Renat Galyautdinov and others.
