Il’sur Metshin: "Tourism should become a full-fledged urban industry"
(KZN.RU, May 17, by Ekaterina Andreyeva). Inbound tourism should become a full-fledged branch of Kazan’s economy. "Its development must involve local and national resources and those of the tour operators themselves," said the Mayor of Kazan Il’sur Metshin.
Tourism is rapidly developing in Kazan. As is known, last year the city was visited by more than 1 million tourists. Each year, the flow increases on average by 15%. According to the Migration Service, 130,000 foreign tourists came to visit us last year. The passenger turnover at Kazan airport is constantly increasing. Thus, in January-March 2011, it reached over 180,000 passengers, which is 19.2% more than in the same period of 2010.
The hotel industry in Kazan is also developing at a brisk pace. Our primary goal is to improve the quality of service in economy-class 2-3 star hotels.
