(Kazan City KZN.RU, January 25, Zilya Gayfi). Today at the City Hall at a meeting with the President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Julio Maglione and Executive Director of the International Swimming Federation Corneille Markulesku Mayor Ilsur Metshin paid tribute to FINA guidance in the preparation and conduct of the championship. According Ilsur Metshin, international competition given the opportunity to declare to the world about Kazan again.
The meeting was attended by the president of the Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, the general secretary of the Executive Directorate of sports projects Ranko Tepavchevich.
Ilsur Metshin thanked the members of the delegation of FINA for their support in Shanghai in 2011, when, during a meeting of the Bureau of the International Swimming Federation, it was decided to hold World Aquatics Championships 2015 in Kazan. Julio Maglione, in turn, noted that the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan became the best for entire history of these competitions. According to the president of FINA, sports games in the capital of Tatarstan may compete with the Olympic Games well in the level and scope.
Participants of the meeting expressed hope for further cooperation and that the water world championship will not be the last joint project of Kazan with International Swimming Federation.
Recall, the World Championships in Aquatics in Kazan was held from July 24 to August 9, 2015. The competition was attended by 2413 athletes, 1495 officials, and total representatives of 190 countries. In Kazan, the record number awards have been played - 75 sets - in six sports in the history of the championship.
