KZN.RU, July 31, Albert Murtazin). Eurasian branch of the World Organization
"United Cities and Local Governments" expands its geography - today
during the General Assembly of the department 7 new cities were accepted.
Solemn ceremony of awarding of certificates about joining the organization was
held today in Kazan City Hall as part of the Congress of Local Authorities of
Eurasia, which brought together local and regional leaders of the Eurasian
section of UCLG.
Co-President
of UCLG, the president of the Eurasian department of the organization, the
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin reported that Russian cities Kyzyl (Tuva
Republic), Novokuibyshevsk, Penza, Yugorsk, Sevastopol and Innopolis, as well
as Kazakhstan's capital Astana expressed a desire to enter the ranks of
voluntary association.
The head of
Kazan city presented certificates of membership in the Eurasian section of
UCLG. Ilsur Metshin congratulated the new members and wished them fruitful work
and success. Members of the General Assembly met their new colleagues with applause.
After the
presentation I. Metshin said that Sevastopol came to offer cooperation with
Vologda, which is also a part of the department. During the meeting of the
General Assembly heads of these cities have signed a mutual agreement.
"This is a good example of the establishment of inter-municipal relations
between the cities of Eurasia", - said the Mayor of Kazan.
