I. Metshin: "We are studying the best practices for the benefit of our inhabitants"

The site of the Eurasian section of the World Organization «United Cities and Local Governments» allows to share the best practices of the municipalities of the world, and then to use it for the benefit of the population. This was stated by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

According Ilsur Metshin, it is no accident that Kazan was chosen as the capital of the Eurasian section of UCLG. Today the capital of Tatarstan serves as the center of the Eurasian integration and is ready to share experiences with other cities around the world. "Kazan is a kind of micro model of Eurasian integration. It is not just about the geographical location of the city, even though we are at the joint between Europe and Asia, and it is largely determined the development of Kazan in the last millennium. First of all, we are talking about culture; it is the bridge that connects the different countries, cities and nations. Kazan always was and will be a multicultural city where 116 nationalities live in peace and harmony. Kazan keeps interethnic and inter-confessional peace for centuries. This is our basic value, this is our strength. The integration of these processes within the Eurasian space is the foundation on which our city will develop "- the Mayor expressed confidence.

Ilsur Metshin outlined the major decisions that have been taken on today's congress. "Today an agreement between the Asia Pacific and the Eurasian section of UCLG was signed for the first time. We are expanding our cooperation. Kazan Declaration was adopted; it says that the main task of the municipal authorities is the work for the benefit of people living in each particular area. The site of the Eurasian section of UCLG is a good example of how to share best practices in each municipality, and then to use it for the benefit of the residents of our cities, "- said Mayor.

Recall today the Congress of Local Authorities of Eurasia was held in Kazan, it was attended by local and regional leaders of the Eurasian regional branch of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments". The Congress was chaired by Co-President of UCLG, the president of the Eurasian department of the organization the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
